By installing or using Filer App, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please uninstall the extension and discontinue use.
Filer App is a Chrome Extension (Manifest V3) that intercepts file downloads in your browser and applies user-configured naming rules and folder organisation logic before the file is saved to your computer.
The extension operates locally within your browser. It does not upload your files to any external server. All rule processing and file renaming logic is executed on your device.
Filer App is designed to operate with minimal data collection. The following describes what may be accessed or stored:

None of this information is transmitted to our servers during normal operation. It is used solely to apply your naming and organisation rules locally.
Filer App does not upload, copy, transmit, or store your files on any external server. The extension intercepts the download suggestion made by your browser and modifies the suggested filename and folder path before the file is saved to your local system.
Files remain on your device at all times. Filer App does not read the content of your files — it only processes the filename, source URL, and browser context at the moment of download.
If you purchase a Filer App Pro licence, the following data is transmitted to our licence verification server:
During checkout, Stripe collects your payment information and email address. We receive your email address via Stripe webhook upon successful payment. This email is stored in our licence database alongside your licence key and plan type.
This information is used solely for licence validation and is not shared with third parties beyond what is described in this policy.

We do not use third-party analytics or advertising trackers in Filer App. We do not sell your data to any third party. We do not share your data with advertisers.
Filer App requests the following Chrome permissions:
These permissions are used strictly for the functionality described in this policy. We do not use these permissions to track browsing behaviour, read page content outside of the active tab at download time, or transmit data externally.
Local data: Your settings, rules, and activity log are stored in Chrome's local storage on your device. This data persists until you clear extension data or uninstall the extension.
Activity log: Free users retain up to 30 days of local activity history. Pro users retain full history locally.
Licence data: Your licence record (email, licence key, plan) is retained for as long as your licence remains active, and for up to 24 months afterwards, or until you request deletion. Contact us to request removal.
Payment records: Payment records are retained by Stripe in accordance with their own data retention policy and applicable financial regulations.

To delete local extension data, clear Filer App's storage from Chrome: chrome://extensions → Filer App → Details → Clear data. Alternatively, uninstalling the extension removes all locally stored data.
Filer App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify users through the extension itself where technically feasible.
Continued use of Filer App after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
